A little extra…a few shopping experiences

Who doesn’t love shopping? Although I am a male specimen (a word derived from special man in my opinion), I do like shopping. At least as long as there aren’t any shoes involved, but that’s not the point of this post.

Over the last few weeks we experience the phenomenon of little extra gifts and discounts when connecting to the owners on a personal level and, of course, buying from them.

Here are a few examples:

At a gift shop in Kolymbari:
What we bought: Herbs, Sandals What we got: A mix of herbs1a_herbs

At a bookstore in Chania:
What we bought: Books What we got: Magnetic bookmarks 1b_magnetic_bookmarks

At another gift shop in Kolymbari:
What we bought: Tsikoudia, Olive oil What we got: A bottle of home-made wine 1c_tsikoudia_wine

Note: The wine is bottled in a water bottle (left) and what looks like water is actually the potent Tsikoudia (right).

At a car dealer in Chania:
What we bought: Errm..a car What we got: A bottle of wine 1d_wine

Is this an everyday thing at all smaller shops? Nopey nope. When was the last time you got discounts and free stuff without even asking? If it did happen to you, share your story with us in the comments section below!
