Filosofos Restaurant, Cafe-Bar in Gerani, Western Crete
We were running some errands today, including a visit to a boarding place for our dogs in Kissamos (Kastelli) and decided to stop at a typical touristy place for lunch on the beach road in Gerani. We did not expect much and we ordered a couple of safe items, the “Greek Spaghetti” for me and Joanie got the “Zinovia’s Salad”. All in all it was not bad and very reasonably priced. Adding a shot of Tsikoudia, a large draft beer (Amstel) and a Frappe we ended up below the 20 Euro mark.
A little unusual were two things: No bread to start with (which anyway serves as a sort of cover charge) and no complimentary Raki and/or dessert after the meal. It was fine since the portions of the plates we ordered were generous and it probably keeps the price lower. Overall very decent food, but nothing to be super-psyched about – it filled our tummies nicely with some well-flavoured dishes.
We can recommend this place if you go with kids since they have a small playground and mini golf area, so you can relax and enjoy your food and drinks while the kids are occupied. The setting is pretty nice with several different styles of outdoor/indoor seating and a view of the sea across the beach road of Gerani.
