Four Martyrs Church Rethymnon
The beautiful Four Martyrs Church (also known as Tesseris Martyres) is one of the must-visit churches while in Rethymnon, Crete. It is dedicated to Aggelis, Manouil, Georgios and Nikolaos who were martyred in 1824.
The Foru Martyrs Church is loacted close to the Municipal Garden and the Guora Gate, one of the prominent entrances into the old town of Rethymno.
How to get there:
The present-day church was constructed in 1975 on a site where two churches had been previously built and demolished, but it still oozes with majesty and serenity one would associate with churches hundreds of years old. It is an active church, so services are held regularly – please do not disturb…and no flash photography allowed!
