Halikia beach, Paleochora

Halikia beach, also referred to as Votsala beach, is located on the east side of Paleochora right at the end of the seafront restaurant and cafe strip. It is a pebble beach and sand beach lovers will definitely find the “Sandy Beach” on the west side of the town more appealing. If you are into people watching from the cafes and the occasional dip in the water in between, this one is for you. We also like it just for the views: straight out to the sea and rugged mountains, which make it great even for sunny winter days to take in the sun and relax. Here is a link with directions to the beach from Chania. If you zoom into the end point you will get a good idea of the exact location of the beach.

Please note that above pictures were taken in December, so no lounge chairs are out, the bar is closed and not a single sunbather can be found. Ready for an overnight stay or a few days of vacation in Paleochora? Here is a list of apartments and hotels in the area.
