Idili Traditional House Panormos

While travelling back from Knossos to our base in Western Crete, we decided to make a stopover and stay for one night in the village of Panormos. Our choice of accommodation fell on Idili Traditional House, a nice stone house with three apartments and we got the split-level Jasmine.

Parking is available on a small road next to the house, but we opted to park in town at the seaside parking which is a mere five minute walk away.

We were greeted by the owner Markos, who gave us a tour of the house and he told us that this is the actual house he was born in. He is now living in the house next door so you will always be able to contact him in case you need anything. In the apartment we found an envelope with our booking information (we reserved on booking.com) and two postcards of Idili – a nice little touch. There was also a bottle of Idili-branded olive oil waiting for us which excited us since we have a love affair with Cretan olive oil.

How to get to Idili Traditional House:

Idili Traditional House Panormos – Interior

The floor level features a sitting area with fireplace, a sofa bed, dining area, kitchen and a bathroom with a very well done half bathroom. Everything you need to conjure up a meal (and eat it) is provided, so it is a good choice if you prefer to cook at your apartment.

Climbing up the stairs is an open bedroom overlooking the bottom floor, another bathroom and an outside balcony with a partial sea view.

Our verdict:

Breakfast is included in the price of the apartment and you can get it served at the time you specify in either the outside garden area or in your room. It is freshly prepared by Markos’ sister and is a great way to start the day for your excursions in the area.

We can wholeheartedly recommend Idili for a stay in Panormos – it is in a quiet location, pet-friendly and close to every restaurant and shop. A truly great value for the price and as a bonus you get the warm feeling of Cretan hospitality for free! You can check out more hotels and apartments in Panormos by clicking the link below.
