Vakakis bakery, Paleochora
If you ever are walking around Paleochora there is no chance of not at least noticing this bakery. Located directly at the seafront and dock area, the Vakakis family owns the bakery and an attached cafe and bar. We did not have time to sit down at the cafe on this trip, but with its glass front facing out to the dock and sea it is a great place to hang out even on cold winter days. It was always busy and seems to be quite the “seen and be seen” place for the younger crowd as well (correct me if I am wrong in the comments section).
We checked out the bakery and sampled some of their baked little goodies for breakfast – eleven of them over two days to be exact and we were blown away. If we lived in Paleochora we’d probably get our fix of greek pastries and breads at Vakakis bakery every morning.
Here is a little peek at their selection:
Breads, rolls, pastries, cookies, rusks and many more Greek breakfast staples all in one place plus a cafe if you don’t want things on the go. Very good munchies at reasonable prices – we love it!
