Villa Iliatoras in Agia Pelagia
During our foray into the more eastern parts of Crete we chose Villa Iliatoras in Agia Pelagia as a base for heading into Iraklio (Heraklion) to visit the Palace of Knossos. At a distance of about 15km from Heraklion you can have an easy drive without the commotion of the biggest city on Crete.
Finding Iliatoras can be a bit tricky, just remember that you will have to basically pass the whole village of Agia Pelagia to make it there – when in doubt, call the owners and they will gladly give you detailed instructions.
How to get there:
Iliatoras has five apartments for rent and for our visit we chose one that slept three. It is a pet-friendly accommodation so we took our two little dogs there without a problem. It is actually an ideal place to stroll your dogs without too much traffic and some great pathways close to the sea make for a quiet walk with fantastic views. Speaking of views: The sea and countryside views are fantastic from the villa!
Iliatoras offers free Wi-Fi and TV, hair-dryer, bathrobes and towels are provided. It is ideal for a budget-friendly stay in the region, especially when you are prefer self catering. If you like to have an authentic eat-out experience we can recommend O Nikolas with its tasty Cretan dishes.
