We recently spent a gorgeous weekend in Chittenden, Vermont at the beautiful Mountain Top Inn and Resort.  We were there to celebrate the wedding of Joanie’s daughter – the most special person in our lives!

For those of you that may be unfamiliar with Chittenden, it is a small town between Rutland and Killington, Vermont and a 4.5 hour drive from our coastal Rhode Island location.  It is in the heart of ski country, surrounded by mountains.  Although long, the drive is scenic and relaxing enough, especially if the weather is good.

The Mountain Top Inn and Resort occupies a gorgeous setting in the Green Mountains.  The property consists of a main lodge, resort homes for rent, a barn structure for large events, and several pet friendly cabins.  A breakfast buffet is available at the main lodge, and there is a dining room and bar that serves delicious food.  There is wi-fi available, although that and cell phone service were spotty at best, particularly in the cabins.
As noted, we were there for a wedding, and it was the perfect location.  The staff members were excellent and approachable, and the wedding planners were organized and efficient.  The food definitely exceeded our expectations.  Although the weather was cold, the ceremony was held outside on the back patio of the lodge, with its stunning view of the lake and mountain backdrop.  The reception was held in the gorgeous rustic barn, which was the perfect size to allow for plenty of socializing and dancing.

One fun stop on the way up, or back, is the Vermont Country Store on Route 103 in Rockingham.  This old-fashioned general store has a huge variety of goods including clothing, toys for the kids, specialty soaps and shampoos, local cheeses and homemade cookies and candy.  It’s interesting just to browse through all the unique items, although we did pickup some extra sharp Vermont Cheddar and some button gingersnaps!

If you plan to visit this area of Vermont, we can wholeheartedly recommend the Mountain Top Inn and Resort.  It’s a great place to unplug and experience the outdoors in all seasons. Find other places to stay in Killington, Vermont right here.
